Alabama Execution

A controversial execution took place in Alabama last night. Kenneth Eugene Smith became the world's first known person to be executed using Nitrogen gas. Smith was strapped to a gurney and fitted with a mask that covered his face, which is how the nitrogen gas was administered. This was the second attempt to execute him… the first attempt was using lethal injection, but they couldn’t find a vein.
