The grey fox, the most common fox in Texas, can be identified by it's predominately silver-grey coat and long, bushy, black-tipped tail. Rusty coloring on the sides of the neck and a bold black stripe along the top of the tail are also key features. The grey fox uses it's long tail to balance, particularly while climbing trees to hunt or escape potential predators.
