The Amish have many rules with everything they do and everything they wear. We had to put our hair in a bun, and then when we put our head covering on, so it stayed in place. We used specific hair accessories, and my parents taught me to use dark colored clips. It would've been bad in their eyes if they could see through my head covering and see my hair clips. Some are more strict about that than others. All the Amish women in my community did their hair very similar, and other Amish communities
