Welcome to the official website for Castle Stalker – a picturesque castle surrounded by water located 25 miles north of Oban on the west coast of Scotland. The castle is privately owned but we do run a limited number of tours each year – these can be arranged by prior appointment.
Castle Stalker – in the Gaelic, Stalcaire, meaning Hunter or Falconer – is believed originally to have been the site of a Fortalice (a small fortified building) belonging to the MacDougalls when they were Lords of Lorn, and built around 1320.
The Castle is situated in Appin on the A828 between Ballachulish and Connel. If travelling from Ballachulish, pass Linnhe Marine and Castle Stalker View café on your right, immediately after which the road goes down a steep hill.
There will be a maximum of one tour per day which will include the trip over the water to the Castle in our new boat and a personal guided tour of the castle provided by a member of the Stewart Allward family who are the present owners of the Castle.
