Most thrash etc fans ie fans of the heavier metal genres that I knew back then, were more appalled with the pretty boy pop "metal' ( Poison, Warrent etc. ) ,and not so much bands like Whitesnake, Telsa, G'n'R and others ( fans of those bands or not ) that get lumped into that category these days .

While they represented the bright side to alternative rock, Husker Du was little bit more serious and much more darker. Zen Arcade is a masterpiece and nothing like it has been made since or before it.

May 31, 2009 · I had friends that listened to the top 40 pop songs and “new wave” artists. I certainly listen to some of the music but I was really more interested in album oriented rock. But a few years after graduating high school and when I had expendable income, I started revisiting artists from the 80’s and listening to more albums than just singles.

Jun 11, 2010 · Heart started out as a rock band. Their big success came first as a rock band. Sure later on, they had the hair band look and maybe the sound a little, but that only lasted a few years. 1976 - 1983 they were a rock band, and most die-hards remember them as a rock band.
