Nobody was reported injured during the incident, but responders are working to contain agricultural materials from the train car that may have leaked into the river.

A spokesperson for the Portland & Western Railroad said the train was carrying urea and agricultural fertilizers.

Saturday’s train bridge collapse in Corvallis doesn’t risk contaminating the city’s water supply, officials said Monday. The collapse occurred because of a “structural failure” in a wooden trestle crossing the Marys River and sent a Portland & Western Railroad train car containing fertilizer into the water.
