Midea Group, the Chinese home appliance giant founded by billionaire He Xiangjian, is listing its shares in Hong Kong and hoping to raise up to HK$27 billion ($3.5 billion), which would be one of the largest listings in the Asian financial hub for the past three years.

Shares of Chinese appliance maker Midea Group Co. rose in their Hong Kong debut after the city’s biggest listing in three years saw robust demand and revived hopes of a turnaround for its struggling market.

Shares in Chinese electronic appliance maker Midea surged more than nine percent on its Hong Kong debut Tuesday, having raised around US$4 billion in the city's biggest initial public offering for more than three years.

The Foshan-based company raised HK$31.01 billion last week, after offering its stock at HK$54.80 a share, at the top end of an expected price range.

Chinese home appliance maker Midea Group is set to price shares at the top of an indicative range to raise at least $3.46 billion in a Hong Kong listing, said four people with direct knowledge of the matter.
