Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the creation of the Army Rocket Force late Wednesday at a ceremony held in Islamabad to commemorate the conflict with India in May, the worst in decades. The ceremony was held a day ahead of Pakistan's 78th Independence Day.
Hurriyat leader Altaf Hussain Wani described August 5 as a day of betrayal. In an emotional interview with state media, he stated, “India thought it could erase Kashmir’s identity, but the resistance grows stronger. Pakistan’s support gives us hope that justice will prevail.”
In Peshawar, a massive rally was led by Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, who warned that Pakistan is prepared to take decisive action. "We have already shown India our strength in the May conflict. If the world continues to ignore Kashmir's suffering, Pakistan will not remain silent," he declared.
Reasserting Islamabad’s long-standing stance on Kashmir, Dar added, “The Kashmir cause remains just, the rights of the Kashmiri people inalienable, and Pakistan's support for their struggle unshakable until justice prevails. As we commemorate this day, let us renew our dedication to a stronger, more secure, and prosperous Pakistan.”
Pakistani Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir reiterated Kashmir as the 'jugular vein' of Pakistan in his speech to the diaspora during his visit to the US. Despite India's dismissal, Munir emphasized Pakistan's stance on Kashmir and highlighted the importance of strengthening US-Pakistan relations.
