I've been trying out Nvidia's new frame-generation tool in everyone's favorite dystopian test game. Here's how it works, and how to take best advantage of this bleeding-edge feature.

The latest patch for Cyberpunk 2077 is available for all platforms. PC players get to enjoy DLSS 4 support, while Xbox SmartFrames received significant fixes, and all platforms now benefit from a more stable Photo Mode.

Cyberpunk 2077 players who upgrade to an RTX 50 series GPU later this month will also gain access to something called Multi Frame Generation which, according to the patch notes, “boosts FPS by using AI to generate up to three times per traditionally rendered frame.” Sounds neat!

There's now full support for DLSS 4 in Cyberpunk 2077, including Multi Frame Gen and Super Resolution with the new transformer model.

CD Projekt RED has released Patch 2.21 for Cyberpunk 2077, available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. This update introduces support for NVIDIA's Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) 4, utilizing Multi Frame Generation technology specifically designed for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards.

The test was also a testament to the power of Nvidia’s upcoming multi-frame generation. With DLSS 4 and 4x frame generation enabled, as well as DLSS set to Performance, the RTX 5090 was hitting a whopping 290 fps and over 40ms of latency. This was with Nvidia’s Reflex 1, as Reflex 2 wasn’t available for this test.
