As expected, Tristan Jarry’s return to the NHL roster was merely to create space at the AHL level so netminder Joel Blomqvist could play games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and remain sharp for the resumption of the NHL’s regular season this weekend.

The Penguins recalled Jarry from their farm team in Wilkes-Barre shortly after their 3-2 loss in Philadelphia Saturday night, their final game before the NHL’s break for the Four Nations tournament.

The Pittsburgh Penguins recalled forward Emil Bemstrom and rookie goaltender Joel Blomqvist from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League on Tuesday. In a corresponding transaction, goaltender Tristan Jarry was assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
