PHILADELPHIA -- As the Philadelphia 76ers now move forward with their season, one has to wonder about what comes next for Joel Embiid. The big fella has not played since Jan. 5 due to a left foot sprain that he suffered before a Christmas Day win over the Boston Celtics.

The Sixers announced on Jan. 17 that Embiid, who had missed the prior six games with a left foot sprain, was now experiencing swelling in his left knee and would be re-evaluated in approximately 7-10 days.

After an on-court workout Thursday, Joel Embiid suffered more swelling in his left knee and will miss at least 7-10 days. ESPN’s Shams Charania was first to report. The Philadelphia 76ers’ season goes from bad to worse as the superstar big man has played in just 13 games this year.

The Sixers got some good news on Monday as Joel Embiid returned to practice. Albeit, as a partial participant, but it is something for Philadelphia as it moves forward. The big fella will remain out for both the matchups with the Lakers and the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday,
