Officials say rare Pakistani airstrikes have targeted multiple suspected hideouts of the Pakistani Taliban inside neighboring Afghanistan, dismantling a training facility and killing some insurgents.

Afghanistan’s Defence Ministry said on Saturday that its forces hit several points inside Pakistan in retaliation for deadly air strikes last week. A pro-Taliban media outlet, Hurriyet Daily News, reported ministry sources as saying that the strikes killed 19 Pakistani troops and that three Afghan civilians died in the violence.

A Pakistan paramilitary soldier was killed and 11 others injured when Afghan Taliban forces fired on Pakistani border posts in Upper Kurram district. The clash followed Pakistan’s strikes against TTP militants in Afghanistan.
