Rookie Roman Anthony, who has homered in back-to-back games, became the first Red Sox hitter with four or more walks in a game since Kyle Schwarber did it Aug. 26, 2021, vs. Minnesota.

Signing 21-year-old Roman Anthony to an eight-year, $130 million contract extension on Wednesday obviously made sense. He’s a gifted player who has impressed teammates with his focus on winning instead of his own achievements. On and off the field Anthony has said and done all the right things since being called up on June 9.

Craig Breslow had high praise for Anthony’s impact on one of the more exciting Red Sox teams in the past few years.
