A perfect storm of a slow-moving pocket of moist air, parched terrain and a hilly area prone to flash flooding unleashed absolute hell on Texas Hill Country — where more than 40 people have died, according to meteorologists.

The authorities confirmed that people had died as a result of the flooding along the Guadalupe River, and urged those living near the river to seek higher ground immediately.

Parts of Texas have seen deadly flash flooding, and more rain is still to come. A flood watch is in effect from Killeen, Texas, all the way down to Bexar County. Many areas will see 5 to 8 inches of rain,
