The 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed a trial judge's ruling blocking the airlines' "Northeast Alliance."

A partnership between American Airlines Group Inc. and JetBlue Airways Corp. violated US antitrust law, an appeals court ruled, affirming a lower court decision to end the alliance.

The original premise of the alliance was to allow American and JetBlue to coordinate schedules and pool revenue on flights out of New York and Boston. The first ruling was made by U.S. District Judge Leo Sorokin. A lawsuit was brought by the Department of Justice and six state to block the alliance.

In May 2023 a federal judge rejected a partnership between American and JetBlue. Today, its lost value is hurting both airlines. But the partnership is not quite dead.
