The early 1980s custom build, which was played on tour and once owned by Mick Mars, ushered in a watershed moment for Kramer and the guitar industry

This October, Sotheby’s will offer Eddie Van Halen ‘s 1982 Kramer electric guitar, wrapped in red, black and white stripes, passionately played by Eddie on stage during Van Halen’s 1982 and 1983 tours.

A previous Sotheby’s sale for a guitar owned by Van Halen — that one on display in the band’s “Hot for Teacher” music video — netted $3,932,000 in April 2023.
