As Virginia Tech begins the season at the Charleston Invitational this Friday, the Hokies bring a new, present energy to the start of a fresh season. “It’s really easy to look ahead, but if you look ahead too much the seasons over. So really day-to-day and but we’re excited to play somebody new this weekend.”
No. 17 Virginia Tech softball hopes for better mindset
Virginia Tech softball coach Pete D'Amour, shown catching a fly ball during practice Tuesday, steered the Hokies to 40 wins and an NCAA tournament berth last year. The Hokies, who are seeking a sixth straight NCAA tournament berth, are ranked No. 17 in the national preseason coaches Top 25 poll.
Given their losing records and so-so power rankings, Virginia Tech and Notre Dame are more concerned about qualifying for the 18-team ACC tournament than the 68-team NCAA Tournament.
