Portland-area schools and government offices will close Friday for a second consecutive day, as an inch of morning snow sent the city into hibernation. A glaze of ice could follow tonight, potentially making streets impassable Friday morning.

School was already canceled for most kids in the area when snow showed up on traffic cameras in Woodburn and Wilsonville on Thursday morning. In comments on a National Weather Service in Portland post on Facebook,

Portlanders have spent the afternoon trudging through the snow or curling up inside, waiting for freezing rain and the icy roads that will follow. They won’t have to wait too much longer.
