James Gunn has revealed the backstory of Superman's weirdest character – and it's made me wish we saw more of him in the movie. "When people ask me my favorite character from Superman it just might be Mr. Handsome. Lex created Mr. Handsome in a Petri dish when he was 12 – he was trying to make a human," Gunn wrote on Bluesky.

Despite its social commentary, James Gunn’s Superman was obviously set in a fantasy world. That has nothing to do with its Kryptonian hero, Green Lantern, or a flying dog.
