Here’s how it works. HP is selling the Elite x3 phone together with its superbly crafted Contiuum Desk Dock for $799. The HP Elite x3 Desk Dock is sold separately, but currently only through HP.

The HP Elite x3 Lap Dock is, admittedly, rather plain. The 12.5-inch "near borderless" screen is only Full HD, not matching the smartphone's own QHD resolution.

Connections on the Thunderbolt Dock G2 include a powered USB 3.0 port, Thunderbolt 3, USB-C DisplayPort, 2 x DisplayPort ports, VGA port, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, Ethernet jack and a 3.5mm combo audio jack.
