Quarterback Caleb Williams was sacked nine times, and the Chicago Bears offense managed just 142 total yards in a 19-3 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday at Soldier Field. The Bears (4-5) struggled with protecting Williams behind a makeshift offensive line missing three starters.

The Patriots were better off getting the No. 3 pick, and Maye, in the 2024 NFL Draft. Williams was perceived as the no-brainer first choice when selected by Chicago.

And that’s a major issue for the Bears going into the most difficult part of their schedule. Playing behind a patchwork offensive line, Williams was sacked nine times and passed for just 120 yards during Sunday’s 19-3 loss to the lowly New England Patriots.

The boos at Soldier Field spoke of anger, frustration and perhaps some embarrassment over whatever circumstances had led Bears fans to pledge allegiance to this sad franchise. The offense managed just 142 yards of total offense against the Patriots on Sunday,
