The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are fresh off the program's third season under head coach Marcus Freeman.  Freeman and the Fighting Irish finished the season as the national championship runner-ups, falling to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the final game of the College Football Playoff.

Rocco Spindler was a starting offensive lineman for the Notre Dame football team, but he is in the transfer portal now. Spindler is obviously one of the top available players in the portal, but he is also one of the top players in the portal in general.

Then, for the biggest play of the game, Notre Dame decided to leave Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith on an island. It was third and 12 and the Fighting Irish would get the ball back with a stop with a chance to tie the game. Smith completely burned his defender and he was wide open for a huge gain, and he iced the game.

Three major college football programs are reportedly in the mix for Notre Dame transfer Rocco Spindler. The 6-foot-5, 325-pound offensive lineman appeared in 40 games with 23 starts over the last four seasons. He started the 2023 season before missing the final three games due to injury and returned to his starting role in 2024.

Between Touchdown Jesus, "Win One for the Gipper," Rudy, and, yes, even the forward pass, there are those who believe football wouldn't quite be football without Notre Dame.
