Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid has been suspended for three games after cross-checking Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland in the head.

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid faced a player safety hearing on Monday to determine the extent of his punishment after he cross-checked a player in the Oilers’ away game against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night.

EDMONTON -- Connor McDavid will be back in the lineup for the Edmonton Oilers when they host the Seattle Kraken at Rogers Place on Monday (9:30 p.m. ET; TVAS, SNW, KONG, KHN), having served his three-game suspension for cross-checking Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland on Jan. 18.

Both players are facing potential suspensions after drawing match penalties during the chaotic closing seconds of Saturday's game in Vancouver.

The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid has been suspended for three games for illegally cross-checking Vancouver Canucks forward Connor Garland. McDavid left the ice early with a match penalty after getting tangled with Garland following a scoring chance in the final moments of the Canucks' 3-2 win.
