VANCOUVER – JJ Peterka set up Juri Kulich's tying goal midway through the third period and scored the game-winner with 6:27 left as the Buffalo Sabres rallied for two goals to beat the Vancouver Canucks, 3-2, Tuesday night in Rogers Arena.

JJ Peterka had a goal and assist in the third period, and Rasmus Dahlin had two assists for the Sabres (18-24-5), who were coming off a 6-4 loss at the Seattle Kraken on Sunday and won for the second time in five games. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen returned after missing the game in Seattle with an undisclosed injury to make 32 saves for Buffalo.

Tage Thompson, Jiri Kulich and JJ Peterka each found the back of the net, with Peterka’s late tally proving to be the game winner. It marked the Sabres’ third win this season when trailing after two periods, and their first since Nov. 23 at San Jose.

Kulich’s final faceoff of the night came with 18 seconds remaining and the Sabres clinging to a one-goal lead in a game they desperately needed. His opponent, J.T. Miller, entered the night with a 58.7-percent success rate in the circle. Kulich won the draw and, seconds later, cleared the puck out of the defensive zone.

Lindy Ruff was so upset with what he saw in Monday’s loss in Seattle, he made everybody take Tuesday’s morning skate and used it as a practice. Ruff wanted battles and he wanted players to the net. He got exactly that in the first period.
