The Minister added that Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) will be available on the IndiaAI compute portal for as low as Rs 67/hour.
The IT ministry announced a set of key initiatives under the AI mission, including a unified datasets platform, AI KOSHA, and an AI competency framework cum portal, iGOT AI.
However, India currently does not own the patents to manufacture its own GPUs, which makes the country reliant on US tech firms Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Amazon Inc, Qualcomm Inc, Intel Corp and others for these prized chips.
