Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced a huge £500 million investment in the transformation of its historic factory in Halewood. The automotive giant is pumping huge amounts into the site which was originally built in 1962.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu MK Stalin, N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons and Tata Motors and other dignitaries.

JLR says the Merseyside plant will become "the factory of the future" but it is yet to decide which all-electric model it will produce there first, as global demand for EVs remains on rough ground.
