Putting a SSD in front of your array means file transfers will hit the SSD first and then be moved to the array later on. That’s how I have my Unraid set up.

Since the speed of the SSD cache is more or less the same as the base drive in question, there's little incentive to set up SSD caching on your gaming PC.
