Microsoft is adding three new edge-computing devices and moving ahead, with various Azure-branded services that are part of its hybrid-cloud family.

Two cloud development services -- Azure Functions and Azure App Service -- are now available on Azure Stack, which brings cloud functionality to on-premises, hybrid implementations.

Microsoft is planning to bring its Cosmos DB NoSQL database to its hybrid-computing and secure microcontroller platforms as part of its 'intelligent cloud, intelligent edge' strategy.
