When the first Jimmy Butler trade rumors started to trickle in earlier in the season, they focused largely on four teams: the Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets.

Despite speculation around Butler, the Warriors are more likely to target two other names on the trade market in Chicago and Brooklyn.

But on Saturday, a report from the Athletic’s Anthony Slater, Marcus Thompson II and Sam Amick said “the Warriors are not currently seen as a viable option” and called Butler an “untenable option” because of what it would cost the Dubs to acquire Butler, who is due to make almost $49 million this season.
