Indianapolis Public Schools' student information and employee Social Security details were leaked this week as part of a nationwide cybersecurity breach affecting school districts that use PowerSchool information management software.

Area school districts might have been impacted by the cyberattack of a nationwide education software cloud-based platform called PowerSchool, used to store sensitive student data.

PowerSchool, an international provider of education administration software, suffered a cybersecurity incident in December that may have impacted Botetourt County Public Schools data, BCPS said on Thursday.

In an FAQ obtained by TechCrunch, PowerSchool confirms it negotiated with the threat actors responsible for the breach.
