At least four people are dead and many are injured after a cloudburst triggered massive flooding in a remote village located in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, a senior minister said Sunday. The cloudburst struck the Janglote area of Kathua district during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

At least 60 people were killed, more than 100 injured and another 200 still missing, Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah told reporters on Friday. The Himalayas are prone to floods and landslides, but some scientists say the intensity and frequency of these events are increasing due to climate change.

The officials said the cloudburst hit Jod Ghati in Rajbagh area of the district during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, snapping access to the village and causing some damage to land and property.
