One lot of Systane Lubricant Eye Drops Ultra PF, manufactured by Alcon Laboratories, has been recalled due to fungal contamination, the FDA announced this week.

A batch of Systane Lubricant Eye Drops Ultra PF has been recalled after a customer complained of "foreign matter" in the drops—which turned out to be fungus.

Systane Lubricant Eye Drops in a green and pink carton design, with “Systane” and “ULTRA PF” brand names on the front of the carton, and the “25 vials” package size marked Lot 10101 were recalled for possible fungal contamination on Dec. 20, 2024. The recall affects one lot of Systane Lubricant Eye Drops Ultra PF, sold in a 25-count box of single vials, which are used to temporarily relieve eye burning and irritation, the FDA said.

Fungal contamination could lead to eye infections, though nobody has reported any problems yet. If you have the recalled drops you can return to where you purchases them for a replacement or refund, according to the FDA. The recalled Systane Lubricant Eye Drops Ultra PF were sold as single-use plastic vials in 25-packs, according to the recall notice posted by the Food and Drug Administration. They’re marked with the lot number 10101 and a September 2025 expiration date.
