The alignment of Easter in Western and Eastern branches of Christianity, along with a 1,700-year anniversary, have renewed calls for a single common date.

The simplest way to explain why Easter falls on a different date each year is this: It falls on the first Sunday after the full moon that follows the spring equinox.
