Kalifatidis told magistrate Michelle Mykytowycz in Melbourne’s Online Magistrates Court that her then long-term boyfriend, Arthur Manidis, had promised to sort out the fines but never did.

Magistrate Michelle Mykytowycz noted if Morganti had not pleaded guilty, she would have sentenced him to six months in prison. The maximum sentence for the offending would have been 10 years.

He was warned by magistrate Michelle Mykytowycz this would relinquish his right to a committal hearing – in which a magistrate weighs the evidence to determine if it should proceed to trial.
