Colorado Democrats needed all four remaining Senate contests to swing their way to gain a supermajority in the state Senate. At 11:49 a.m. on Thursday, AP called state Senate district 15 for Republican Marc Catlin over his Democratic opponent, Cole Buerger. Catlin bested Buerger by about 4%, or 3,500 votes.

Colorado Republicans denied Democrats a supermajority in the state Senate. But Democrats were likely to renew their large edge in the House.

Senate Democrats elected a new president and shuffled the deck for new leaders in other positions, on Friday, choosing progressive Democrats for leadership roles.
