Chelsea has taken a step forward in the market and has put all its effort into securing the arrival of Xavi Simons. The Dutch midfielder, who currently plays for RB Leipzig, is one of the top priorities for the team led by Enzo Maresca as they approach the final stretch of the transfer window.

His struggles pushed Chelsea further into the striker market signing former Ipswich Town and Brighton and Hove Albion players Liam Delap and João Pedro respectively. Both players have enjoyed strong starts to their life at Stamford Bridge aiding the Blues to the FIFA Club World Cup and scoring in preseason.

Man City have entered the race to sign Xavi Simons, but the Leipzig star still favours a move to Chelsea. Chelsea have been negotiating a deal for Simons for much of the summer and, until last week, it had seemed certain the Dutchman would be moving to Stamford Bridge.
