An area of stormy weather in the open Atlantic Ocean became Tropical Storm Andrea on Tuesday morning, the first of the Atlantic hurricane season, according to the National Hurricane Center.

HOUSTON — Tropical Storm Andrea has formed in the Central Atlantic. It's packing wind speeds of 40 mph and moving ENE at 17 mph. It has no threat to land as it sits about 1,000 miles east of Bermuda.
