Despite an 80-72 opening night loss to Ohio State, there was plenty to smile about for Longhorns fans who finally got a good look at super-freshman Tre Johnson. The Lake Highlands product went 10 of 2 for 29 points while dishing out four assists.

He also converted four of his five free-throw attempts while playing a team-high 39 minutes. Johnson broke the freshman school scoring record previously held by Kevin Durant, the perennial NBA All-Star who scored 20 points in his first game at Texas in 2006.

The Texas Longhorns had a major test in their season opener as they played against Ohio State last night. The Longhorns ended up losing their season opener by a score of 80 to 72. Texas was led by five-star freshman Tre Johnson who tied the record for most points scored by a freshman in their season debut in Texas basketball history.
