After falling in the divisional round of the playoffs for the second straight season, C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans believe they’re “really close” to taking the next step and making their first AFC championship game.

It’s too bad it was history for the wrong reason. The Texans became the first team in playoff history to lose despite outgaining their opponent by 100-plus yards and not having a turnover. Prior to Saturday’s 24-13 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs, teams were 49-0 when accomplishing the feat.

The Texans had a chance to walk out of Arrowhead Stadium with their heads held high, knowing they took the NFL's top dynasty into the fourth quarter. That is what the Jaguars did in 2022 after a game with several calls that didn't go their way. But instead of blaming the referees, the Jaguars blamed themselves.
