Mayor Tom Arceneaux and the City of Shreveport joined the community in mourning the loss of former City Councilman Joe William Edward Shyne Sr., who died Saturday at age 85.

"Joe was not just a colleague but a friend," said Arceneaux. "His unwavering dedication to the people of Shreveport and his spirited approach to public service were truly inspiring."

Shyne was also a husband, father, and grandfather. His son, Joe Shyne II, said his father always put family first.
