Three people were taken to a hospital after a Novant AirLink helicopter crashed in a wooded area near the New Hanover/Pender County line, officials said.
The race began at Johnny Mercer’s Pier in Wrightsville Beach and finished at Live Oak Bank Pavilion in downtown Wilmington.
A Novant Health spokesperson said three team members were on board the helicopter. All three were being taken to a hospital for evaluation.
