Shane Gillis called Nick Saban a cheater on live television, and the former Alabama coach shot back with an epic response.

During College GameDay ahead of the first-round College Football Playoff matchup between Indiana and Notre Dame in South Bend, Saban did not seem to appreciate comedian and guest picker Shane Gillis jokingly accusing him of “cheating.”

Following a segment on ESPN’s “College GameDay” Friday about the pressures facing Ohio State Buckeyes coach Ryan Day after his team’s stunning 13-10 loss to Michigan on Nov. 30, Saban was asked by host Rece Davis to weigh in on Day.

“GameDay” guest picker and comedian Shane Gillis, a Notre Dame fan, first joked about Saban paying players at Alabama. But the outspoken comic also roasted the coach’s hat, which had drawn comparisons to Indiana Jones throughout the show.

In the defense of those on the internet, Nick Saban did choose quite the interesting hat to wear while fulfilling his duties on College GameDay. The ESPN program aired a special Friday edition of the show ahead of the first 12-team College Football Playoff game between Notre Dame and Indiana, and the elements called for the show hosts to bundle up.

The seven-time national championship coach did not take kindly to the suggestion or even joke that Alabama players received impermissible benefits under his watch.
