The National Hurricane Center is tracking four tropical waves, including two in the Caribbean. There's a potential for severe thunderstorms, with the heat index hitting 106, in some areas of Florida today. Tropical Storm Andrea, the first named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, formed June 24.

Andrea, the first named tropical storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, dissipated Tuesday night just hours after forming in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean earlier that morning, according to the National Hurricane Center.

A storm surge is when storm-driven winds push water toward the coastline. As the tide rises, the water overflows onto coastal lands, causing flooding. Hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30. Most hurricanes occur between August and October, with September being the busiest month.
