By Aditya Kalra NEW DELHI (Reuters) -From McDonald's and Coca-Cola to Amazon and Apple, U.S.-based multinationals are facing calls for a boycott in India as business executives and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's supporters stoke anti-American sentiment to protest against U.

Donald Trump had initially imposed a 25 per cent tariff, which came into effect from August 7, on India and blamed New Delhi for fueling the war in Ukraine by purchasing Russian oil. He later imposed an additional 25 per cent levy and signed an executive order in this regard on August 6.

With threats of tariffs up to 50 percent, President Trump seems to be scrapping America’s plan to turn India into a counterweight to China, declaring instead that it is a “dead economy.”
