HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez was looking to secure another term in office as he faced Republican challenger Mike Knox in the November General Election. Gonzalez was elected sheriff back in 2026. Before being elected sheriff, Gonzalez served on the Houston City Council for three terms representing District H.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez will continue serving the county as sheriff after winning reelection. He was elected into the position back in 2016.

Early voting in Harris County has seen a record number of voters with over 1.04 million residents heading to the polls from Oct. 21-31, according to the Texas secretary of state's unofficial results.

Jimmy Fullen has been elected as Galveston County Sheriff, as current sheriff Henry A. Trochesset plans to retire after serving since 2013.

Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan will keep serving the county after winning reelection. He was originally elected as sheriff in November 2020.
