SpaceX halted Falcon 9 launches for a week while it investigated that issue, which was traced to a fuel leak in one of the booster's nine Merlin engines. This leak led to a fire shortly after touchdown, which weakened a landing leg and caused the vehicle to tip over.
Crew-12 is scheduled to lift off at 6:01 a.m. Feb. 11 from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station for an eight-month International Space Station mission.
Nasa said today that it is delaying until March the launch of its first crewed flyby mission to the moon in more than 50 years, after encountering leaks during final tests. The mishaps during a run-through that the United States space agency calls a “wet dress rehearsal” dashed hopes that the mission around the moon could launch as soon as Sunday.
Another issue popped up on Sept. 28, 2024, during the launch of the Crew-9 astronaut mission to the ISS. The Falcon 9 got the spaceflyers where they needed to go, but the upper stage conducted an off-nominal deorbit burn and came back to Earth outside its target zone.
