We enjoyed our time at this beautiful, clean beach. Loved the breeze and nice waves. Just a perfect time. Highly recommend. Full review by Venture27383367279

We went at high tide plus a yellow flag so we didn’t do much swimming. It was still a super nice day at the beach. Beautiful location, free parking and lots of stairs! Full review by lindsay0215

Great shoreline with waves for surfers. You must walk down quite a few stairs to get there but it is work the walk. Full review by MtnCritter

Hi Roving, The use of the term "strands" is (I believe) fairly common for a walkway or road or path pretty close to the ocean. Oceanside has a whole strip of oceanfront walkway named "The Strand" and I am pretty sure there are a lot more "Strands" elsewhere. Dana Point honors its famous author Richard Henry Dana ("Two Years Before the Mast") in the naming of several streets, public buildings, and places after him. The "Lantern District" has a number of plaques that pay tribute to him. "Dana Strands" combines the author's name with the stretch of walkway along the beach. We accessed the beach from the elevated walkway's staircase down to the beach. Hope this was helpful.
