We were looking for something to do so we drove over to check out the rock at morrow Bay. It was super easy to find. There was a large parking lot with restrooms. We only spent about 10 minutes here,…Full review by aberfitchgr534

It's a big rock. My wife and I had a pleasant time on the path walking by the rock and on the beach as well. It honestly felt more crowded than in town. Just not a lot of appeal for me about the roc…Full review by Josh A

Nice to sit in the sun looking out over the bay with boats coming and going as well as looking at Morrow rock. Seals playingin the harbor is also fascinating!Full review by Mickey C
Is Morro Rock before or after San Luis Obispo. I will be coming Big Sur for an overnight at the Madonna inn. Next day driving to Santa Barbara. Just don’t want to miss it.

It is a quaint seaside community. Regardless of the time of year you can walk along the waterfront where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. You will often see otters and seals, but in January the weather will likely be less than desirable. If you are looking for other things to do in the area, it is a short drive from here to Paso Robles wine country where there are close to 100 wineries. Hearst Castle is also a good option. And close to Hearst Castle is an Elephant Seal Rookery (these are incredible animals). Do a search in Trip Advisor for San Simeon and Paso Robles and you will see many options under "Things to Do"
