Selby is a city in Walworth County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 610 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Walworth County. Selby sprang up with the arrival of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad to the area in 1899. The town was named for a railroad official.
